Local Parks Multisport Program
Sports Engagement
Breaking Barriers
The Local Parks Project began in 2012 and aims to break barriers that often stop children from engaging in mainstream sporting clubs. Throughout the year a range of sports are offered, free of charge, in areas that have been identified as having low participation with certain parks selected so that they are a short walk from participants’ homes. The programs target young people from multicultural and Indigenous backgrounds, as well as youth at risk, but are open to all.
The program at different times across multiple locations.
Participants who develop through the program are encouraged to enter our sporting pathways programs, which focus on a team-centred approach and provide long term development across three main sports: AFL, soccer and basketball.
