United

The Banksia United program uses sport as a vehicle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth engagement. It aims to encourage positive interactions amongst participants and build self-confidence whilst being physically active. The program exposes participants to a number of different sports free of charge and also offers a bus pick up service to and from the program. The program runs most Saturday mornings in Koondoola with two youth workers and our volunteer bus driver.

We also use coaches and venues provided by other organisations to facilitate sessions we are unable to run ourselves, such as with swimming, volleyball and badminton. In addition to playing sport, the Banksia United program frequently offers participants the chance to engage in other activities, such as attending theatre shows and the visiting the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
